Colombia Caldas Cooperativa Risaralda
This coffee joins our lineup from the Caldas region of Colombia, one of the smaller and lesser known coffee growing regions in the country. Geographically to the northeast of the capital city, Bogotá, and a little outside of the powerhouse coffee producing areas like Huila and Tolima, the coffees that originate from Caldas are slightly different. Juicy, syrupy, floral, bright acidity: these are some of the descriptors that come to mind.
Cooperativa Risaralda was started in 1959 by 38 coffee growers to establish community, partner to earn better prices, and collaborate on production techniques and exporting. Six decades later, one of Colombia’s first cooperatives is still going strong, linking small-scale coffee growers with the global coffee community.
