Ethiopian Dinkalem Ademe
We are now roasting a lovely natural processed Ethiopia from producer, farmer, and community leader Dinkalem Ademe.
Dinkalem is a community leader and farmer who sets aside 40 acres of his 400-acre farm for coffee production. Here he runs a robust outgrower’s program for other local farmers, trading support and a guaranteed market for labor and farmland - a mutually beneficial scenario.
Dinkalem’s farm is located in the village of Checko in Ethiopia’s Keffa highlands, at elevations of 1800-2000 masl. Dinkalem serves as a land steward here. With old and new coffee trees planted together, he and his community-based team prune and remove older trees when necessary to keep quality sharp and yields high. Dinkalem also owns wet and dry mills in the area, where his team can process their own coffee for export.
Swift Coffee Sourcing, our partner who imports this coffee, works closely with the farm. With a team member working in Ethiopia during the harvest, they oversee production, processing, and handle exporting to ensure visibility on all aspects of the supply chain.
